Come to Colonial Day on the Norwichtown Green on Saturday, May 4, 11am-3pm for the 2024 season opening of the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop and the Daniel Lathrop Schoolhouse, 69 & 71 East Town St, Norwich. Enjoy strolling on the Green where you will experience what it was like when the Green was the center of social and commercial life in Norwich with crafts and traveling merchants. Enjoy period music with Bob & Kelly, have a cup of Pewter Pot Fine Chocolate, browse the wares of Big Bear Trading Company and watch as Scott the Blacksmith shows off his skills. Discover a soldiers life with the 6th CT Regiment. Visit the Silversmith Shop and talk with Kesia Cleveland about her memories of Madame Sarah Knight, tavern keeper on the Green, appreciate the original forge of the silversmith Joseph Carpenter and discover more about the houses and life on the Green. Check out the activities in the Dr.Daniel Lathrop Schoolhouse, where young people learned their 'Three R's' thanks to an endowment by Dr. Lathrop. Discover Norwich History on the Green!
