Founded in 1990 by Howard E. “Rocky” Stone, the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is the nation’s leading organization representing consumers with hearing loss. Today, the HLAA has over 150 chapters nationwide! The Eastern Connecticut Chapter is a vibrant and diverse community dedicated to helping people with hearing loss lead more satisfying and productive lives. Founded in 2012 our purpose is to bring together, support, inform, and advocate for hearing-impaired people. Our Focus Is on: 1) Giving information about hearing devices and technology 2) Referrals to audiologists, ENTs, and specialists 3) Assistance funding for devices 4) Advocacy- jobs, family, relationships, and medical care accessibility The Eastern Connecticut Chapter meets on the third Saturday of every month from 10 AM to 12 PM at UConn, in Storrs, CT, from September to June. Our meetings have a hearing loop and big screen captioning. In July and August, we will enjoy summer outings/activities at various locales.
