Norwich, CT – The GNACC Education and Workforce Development Committee has announced it will be hosting its Manufacturing and Health & Wellness Career Fair for our local area high schools on Friday, May 5th from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Holiday Inn in Norwich. The GNACC Manufacturing and Healthcare & Wellness Career Fair brings together students who are prepared to enter the workforce and employers eager to welcome them. Employers from the region’s two largest growth employment sectors will come prepared to greet students, present their job opportunities, accept applications, conduct interviews, and some may even make on-the-spot employment offers. The students are coming from schools that implement the Youth Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (YMPI). This is a hiring Event. Our employers have the ability to make a positive impact on a diverse group of students from a broad range of academic levels within the local school systems including high school as well as college. They are expecting over 150 students in attendance. “As a chamber, it is important to bridge those gaps between businesses and our local community, which includes bringing opportunities and resources available to local students to keep them employed here in Eastern Connecticut for many years to come.” Angela Adams, GNACC Executive Director. The GNACC Education and Workforce Development Committee has partnered with organizations such as the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board (EWIB), Eastern Advanced Manufacturing Alliance, Regional Sector Partnership (EAMA, RSP), Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (MPI), and the Eastern CT Healthcare Pipeline to pull together this amazing opportunity for students. “We are encouraging schools to bring their seniors who are workforce bound to introduce themselves to the manufacturing and health and wellness employers,” Elle-Jordyn Goslin of EWIB said. “We have worked closely with the schools to prepare their students for interviews with employers. We hope that these connections will support filling Eastern CT job demand with talented young people from our communities.” If you are a manufacturer, health and wellness employer, or high school interested in learning more about this event, please contact Angela Adams at the Greater Norwich Area Chamber at angelaadams@NorwichChamber.com or call (860) 887-1647.
