AMA Dance Theater of Mystic will bring Marius Petipa’s ballet adaptation to the Garde Stage on March 31 and April 1 New London (March 15, 2023) – AMA Dance Theatre (ADT) announces their professional company's inaugural production of Marius Petipa’s classical ballet adaptation of "Sleeping Beauty" on stage at the Garde Arts Center Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $30-$90 and are on sale to the public at https://gardearts.org/events/sleeping-beauty/. Just as in the fairy tale, in the classical ballet adaptation, audiences will experience a timeless tale of enchantment and love, only now it is expressed through the art of dance. Deep in a century-long slumber, Aurora, a beautiful princess, and her kingdom await the power of true love’s kiss. Our enchanting cast includes the professional ADT Company, which includes Isabel Cary (ADT teacher formerly with Washington Ballet) and Company trainees (two of whom were "Clara" in Festival Ballet Providence's Nutcracker this past December). Professional Company guests include McGee Maddox (Former Principal Dancer with National Ballet of Canada and Broadway Star), George Sanders (NYC City Center Dance, Broadway, Former dancer with Memphis Ballet), and Victoria Jaenson (former dancer at Charlotte Ballet & BTC). Dancers from Hartt Dance Division and the New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus join us through our community program. Support for Sleeping Beauty has been provided by CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature. Visit https://gardearts.org for information and ticketing, or call the Box Office at (860) 444-7373. Group rates are available.
