Buscetto Returns to Lead Walk-a-Thon for Domestic Violence Victims Annual 4k Safe Walk hosted by Safe Futures August 20, 2021 WATERFORD — Safe Futures, a non-profit serving victims of domestic violence, is pleased to have one of the community’s most civic-minded entrepreneurs back at the helm of its annual fundraiser that takes place in October during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mike Buscetto, III, the owner of Filomena’s restaurant in Waterford, returns this year as chairman of Safe Futures’ Annual 4k Safe Walk. The event serves to raise money in support of the services Safe Futures provides to some 10,000 clients annually across southeastern Connecticut. This year’s Safe Walk is at Waterford High School on Sunday, Oct. 17. Same day registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and walkers will begin circling the school’s outdoor track at 9:00a.m. Participants can also register ahead of the event online at http://www.firstgiving.com/413648/Safe-Futures-2021-Annual-4K-Safe-Walk or by visiting Buscetto’s restaurant where forms are also available. Buscetto is a past recipient of the Champion for Children Award given by the town of Waterford, as well as numerous other civic accolades. In 2012 he was hailed by local Rotarians as the Unsung Hero for Outstanding and Dedicated Service, and in 2009 was lauded by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut as the Revitalization leader of the Year. In addition to his work with Safe Futures, Buscetto also serves as chairman of the Waterford Youth and Family Advisory Board, a board member of Cactus Jack and supports Lawrence + Memorial Hospital as a member of the Community Hospital Council.
