WATERFORD COUNTRY SCHOOL DEDICATES FOUNDERS PARK ON JUNE 19th Quaker Hill, CT – Waterford Country School (WCS) is proud to open up its campus on Saturday, June 19th at 10:00 am for the dedication of the newly completed Founders Park. This central hub of the campus has been an area of gathering and recreation since Waterford Country School started. Former Executive Director, Bill Martin, and the Board of Trustees wanted to rebuild this area in honor of the Schacht family who founded WCS almost a century ago. In 2020, with the help of over 200 donors, the $100,000 funding for the park was raised in 6 weeks. The park now includes a kickball field, painted basketball court, garden sitting area, swing set and tetherball court. An outdoor play area for the Waterford Country School students was timely and welcomed during the pandemic when outdoor recreation and gathering spaces became an essential part of everyday life. “It’s been so inspiring,” says Sharon Butcher, WCS School Principal. “Our kids, of all ages, can’t wait to get outside to the park. It’s so refreshing after a year of ups and downs to give them this place of joy.” Waterford Country School invites all of the Founders Park Donors, families and friends to the dedication ceremony on June 19th from 10:00 am-11:30 am. Parking will be available in the Otto Graham Gymnasium parking lot. Light refreshments will be available after the ceremony. Please RSVP to Jessica at (860) 442-9454.
