Belenski takes over after the departure of Eric Campbell, who recently signed with the Seattle Mariners organization to continue his career as a player. Belenski joins the Sea Unicorns after two seasons with the University of Connecticut baseball program, most recently serving as the program’s Director of Player Development and Analytics. Originally from Woodbridge, Connecticut and a product of Amity Regional High School where he won three state championships as a part of the school’s baseball program, Belenski went on to play four seasons at Eastern Connecticut State University and helped the team reach the 2016 NCAA Regionals. “Devin is a great young baseball mind and will be a great asset to the Sea Unicorns in our first season of Futures League baseball,” said Sea Unicorns General Manager Dave Schermerhorn. “He is an incredibly mature young man ready to lead in this role. His knowledge of the game, especially the analytical side, will be a great asset to our players”. “I couldn’t be more excited to join the Sea Unicorns this summer,” said Belenski. “I’ve had the chance to learn from one of the most respected coaching staffs in college baseball the last two seasons and look forward to my chance to make a positive impact on development of our players. I’ve enjoyed many night at Dodd Stadium over the years as a fan and I can’t wait to get started leading this team in front of our fans”. The rest of the 2021 Sea Unicorns coaching staff will be announced in the coming days as it is finalized.
