February 17, 2021 Contact: Kris Nickerson Norwich Arts Center President, Board of Directors krispete0730@gmail.com 860-949-0444 For Immediate Release Norwich, CT: In a recent virtual meeting, the Norwich Arts Center's Board of Directors held a vote to elect a new member. They are pleased to announce that James R. Marshall III of Norwich has joined the Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 term. Jim has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer. For the major part of his career with SNET and AT&T, he was a Fleet Engineer, designing vehicles to support installing and maintaining the communications network. He also taught Auto Mechanics to Bell System Fleet people from all over the country for a period of approximately two years, and had positions in auditing, administrative services and real estate. Since his retirement, Jim has had time to pursue his interest in the Arts, starting with volunteering for First Friday, the former Norwich Community Theater, and Arts Cafe Mystic, where he has been the videographer for twenty years. Jim was a member of the Norwich Arts Center Board (2013-2015), Programming Co-Chair (2013-2015) and is currently a NAC Volunteer. He enjoys attending car shows and live events - especially Blues music, theater and poetry readings. Jim is also a member of the Slater Memorial, Florence Griswold, Lyman Allyn and Mystic Seaport Museums. Jim believes that a venue for the arts is important for any city, but especially for one with great unrealized potential such as Norwich Arts Center. He feels that such a venue encourages a sense of community, which will help Norwich move forward. It also provides a reason for people to visit the downtown area, which will help other businesses to thrive. Jim is looking forward to helping NAC continue to offer high-quality entertainment and visual arts. The Norwich Arts Center’s complete Board of Directors, including officers per a vote during the virtual Annual Meeting on January 27, 2021, includes: Kris Nickerson – President, Faye Ringel - Vice President, Ron Bates - Treasurer, Patricia LaPierre - Secretary, Carol Dunn, Thom Keaney, MaryKay Kelleher, Gallery Co-Op President Susan Scott Kenney, James Marshall III, Susan Masse, Mike Van Vlaenderen, Roberta Vincent and Peter Leibert (Emeritus).
