December 12, 2019 – Lake of Isles in North Stonington was the venue for the Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS® 25th annual Community Benefit Raffle & Auction. Close to two hundred REALTORS®, Affiliates and their clients raised over $15,500 to provide funding assistance to 21 local organizations supporting housing, hunger, opioids, women/children and veterans. “We exceeded last year’s amount by $2,000. Each year, our members are so generous at this event, and we are so pleased that we can give back to the community in which we all work and live,” explained Melody Edelman, 2019 Chair of the Community Outreach Committee which organizes this event each year. Organizations receiving funding this year are: Always Home, Inc, Care & Share of East Lyme, Inc, Catholic Charities Diocese of Norwich, Covenant Shelter of New London, Inc CT Alliance for Foster & Adoptive Families, Enders Island, Habitat for Humanity of Eastern CT, Madonna Place, Matt’s Mission – End the Stigma of Drug Addiction, New London Community Meal Center, Inc, New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Perceptions Program, Reliance Health, Inc, Safe Futures, St. Vincent de Paul Place, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc, The CT Coalition to End Homelessness, The New London Area Food Pantry, The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries, Inc, Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group (TEEG) and United Community & Family Services, Inc (UCSF). Numerous businesses throughout Eastern Connecticut contributed prizes and merchandise to help make the event a success. A raffle, silent & live auction and 50/50 drawing were included in the luncheon festivities.
