Rebecca Alberts, Chair Norwich Events Organization GoNorwichCT@gmail.com NORWICH EVENTS ORGANIZATION RECEIVES EDWARD AND MARY LORD FOUNDATION GRANT Funds will be used to expand activities at community events Norwich, CT, January 3, 2020 – Norwich Events Organization is proud to announce it has recently been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Edward and Mary Lord Foundation. “We couldn’t be more excited about this grant,” said Rebecca Alberts, Chair of Norwich Events. “We love this partnership with the Lord Foundation that will enable us e to expand the events we currently organize, making them more family-friendly, and accessible to more community and regional attendees. We love Norwich and are excited to show our community off in the best possible way.” Norwich Events Organization would love to be able to expand the events in both size and number that we are able to provide to the City and this is the first step in being able to do this. We couldn’t be more thankful for the support of the Edward and Mary Lord Foundation. Norwich Events Organization’s mission is to further the economic prosperity of the City of Norwich, Connecticut and the surrounding region through improving the vibrancy and quality of life through community events. Norwich Events currently organizes Norwich’s Winterfest Parade, Saint Patrick’s Parade and Festival and Norwich Harbor Fireworks. This grant has enabled Norwich Events to have photos with Santa immediately following the Winterfest Parade. Future plans include adding a kid zone play area at both the St. Patrick’s Festival and the Norwich Fireworks event to include more kid-friendly activities, including face painting, arts & crafts, magic shows, and more. Grant funding will also be used to expand marketing efforts for all events. The mission of The Edward and Mary Lord Foundation is to financially support programs and capital projects of local non-profit organizations who provide services to New London County, Connecticut populations of elderly persons, children and programs involved in community health care. The mission also seeks to provide support to the local arts and cultural community. *** Norwich Events Organization is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit.
