About Tamarack Lodge & Indie Glamping Resort Once hosting a secret party for the cast of The Sopranos to avoid Paparazzi, Tamarack Lodge is a hidden gem dating back to the 1700’s. The 28 acres of land have been home to various businesses including a blacksmith shop, a water-powered wagon wheel mill, a tree farm and then a popular vacation resort in the 1940’s. Industrial gears are still visible in the main buildings’ ceilings and what were once large chicken coops turned into cabins. The resort attracted vacationers from New York and Boston looking for a retreat from the city hussle and bussle. The ancestry of the original owners Carl and Ellen Anderson date back to Sweden which influenced Scandinavian culture at the resort from music, dance and food. As the resort grew more popular, an inground pool and a sauna were added to the property in the 1960’s. In 2003, the Andersons’ sold Tamarack Lodge to a private buyer who held ownership for about ten years. Closed in 2013, a couple contracts fell through and even the Longos’ considered purchasing it but thought it priced too high. The property was vacant for five years until in 2017 the Longos’ received a call saying the property was back on the market. They felt it was fate and' purchased the abandoned property with a vision of restoring Tamarack to its former glory! During the beginning stages of renovations and cleaning up the grounds, the Longos’ have come across a cemetary dating back to the 1800’s, over 1,000 pieces of Italian marble table tops, lovers names carved into trees, hiking trails and vintage arm chairs, lamps, photographs and other treasures hidden behind old dresser drawers. The restaurant and tavern were open Thursday through Sunday with regular entertainment including popular, local band Flatrock and SyFy Networks celebrity Ghost Hunter Stephen Gonsalves hosting ghost stories in the cemetery. This Rustic Estate offers unique opportunities for weddings and events that range from intimate 20-person ceremonies to 200-person receptions under a tent or weekend-long wedding soirees with fire pits. The property can accommodate groups and events outdoors up to 2,000 people. Perfect for private events, corporate outings, creative or spiritual retreats and concerts, the vintage cabins, guest house, and grounds for trailers and tents provide Indie Glamping getaways from the hustle and bustle with lots of local activities to enjoy, Tamarack Lodge is located at 21 Ten Rod Road in Voluntown, Connecticut.
