For Immediate Release Media Contact: Elijah Gonzalez August 6, 2019 860-887-7962 x 109 Tigers Win Four in a Row with Comeback Win Against Aberdeen This is the longest win streak in 2019 for CT Norwich, CT - Eliezer Alfonzo delivered an RBI single to help fuel the largest inning of the contest, and the Connecticut Tigers (24-26) posted a come from behind win of 3-2 over the Aberdeen IronBirds (28-23). Alfonzo finished the night 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Tigers. Andrew Daschbach gave the IronBirds the lead in the top half of the first inning with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Dashbach finished the night 2-for-4 with an RBI for Aberdeen. Kevin Magee got the start for the IronBirds in the contest. Magee surrendered the first run on a fielder’s choice by Alfonzo in the fifth inning. Corey Joyce came in to score on the play after reaching on an error by the second baseman for the IronBirds. Magee finished the night pitching six innings with one unearned run and eight strikeouts. Aberdeen retook the lead in the top half of the sixth inning on an error by the Tigers. Dalton Hoiles brought home the run on a fly ball to produce the error. In the seventh, the Tigers strung together their first back-to-back hits of the contest against Kyle Martin (Loss, 2-2). After a Jake Holton walk and a Jose King single, Alfonzo drove home Holton on a single to right-center field to make it 2-2. He is now hitting .419 this season with runners in scoring position. Eric De La Rosa gave the Tigers the lead in the frame with an RBI fielder’s choice to make it 3-2. Zac Shepherd (Win, 1-3) pitched two scoreless frames for Connecticut in the seventh and eighth inning. Shepherd tied his career high in strikeouts with four while surrendering one hit. Yaya Chentouf (Save, 3) came in for the ninth inning. After allowing two singles in the inning to put runners at the corners, Chentouf struck out Adley Rutschman to pick up the save for the Tigers. He went one inning with no runs on two hits with two strikeouts. The Connecticut Tigers will be back in action tomorrow night at home against the Aberdeen IronBirds as they conclude the series at Dodd Stadium.
