For Immediate Release July 31, 2019 Media Contact: Elijah Gonzalez 860-887-7962 x 109 Tigers Fall in Game Two of Series Against Williamsport CT win streak ends at two games Norwich, CT - Jake Holton went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the game, but the Connecticut Tigers fell by a final score of 6-2 against the Williamsport Crosscutters (15-29). This is the first win for Williamsport against Connecticut since 2011. Xavier Javier (Loss, 2-2) got the start for the Tigers. Williamsport got on the board in the first inning on four-straight walks to open the contest. DJ Stewart added to the lead in the inning with a RBI on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Tyler Burch and Leonel Aponte (Win, 1-1) combined to strikeout 12 batters in the contest for the Crosscutters. Burch pitched 3.2 innings surrendering three hits and striking out six batters in the game. Aponte went 3.1 innings giving up one hit with six strikeouts. Williamsport added to their lead in the fifth inning with an RBI double by the 2019 first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, Bryson Stott, to make it 3-0. Stott finished 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Kendall Simmons reached on a throwing error on a bunt attempt to make it 4-0 in the frame. Rudy Rott added the final run of the inning on an RBI single to left-field to make it 5-0. Williamsport extended their lead for insurance in the top of the eighth. Simmons hit a solo-home run over the left-field wall to make it 6-0. He finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the contest. The Tigers put up their only runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. After Kingston Liniak reached on a walk and Ryan Kreidler doubled, Holton drove in a pair with a base-hit back up the middle to make it 6-2. Kreidler finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored. He now has an extra-base hit in four out of the last five games for the Tigers. The Connecticut Tigers will be back in action tomorrow night for Thirsty Thursday against the Williamsport Crosscutters in the final game of the series.
