For Immediate Release July 11, 2019 Media Contact: Elijah Gonzalez 860-887-7962 x 109 Tigers Bounce Back in Win at Auburn CT pushes across five runs in the final two frames Auburn, NY - Jack O’Loughlin pitched a career-high six innings with seven strikeouts, and the Connecticut Tigers (12-14) defeated the Auburn Doubledays (12-14) by a final score of 8-3. O’Louhglin took the no decision in the contest. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Eric De La Rosa drove in a run on an RBI-groundout. After loading the bases with three-straight singles in the third, Jake Holton was hit by a pitch to bring in the first run of the inning. Jordan Verdon made it 3-0 on a fielder’s choice scoring Riley Greene. Holton finished the night 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Verdon also totaled a hit in the game with an RBI and a run scored. Greene had his first three-hit performance in the New York-Penn League. He went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Auburn cut into the lead in the fifth inning on a throwing error to make it 3-1. The Doubledays eventually tied the game in the bottom of the seventh frame. Caldioli Sanfler brought home a run on an RBI single to cut the deficit to one. David Masters tied the game on a walk with the bases loaded the following at-bat. After a pitching change, Raul De Los Reyes (Win 1-1) came in to get the final out of the inning to get the Tigers out of a bases-loaded jam. In the eighth, Connecticut brought home an insurance run on an RBI-groundout by Hector Martinez. Martinez now has 10 RBIs since joining the Tigers prior to the six-game road trip. In the ninth, Ryan Kreidler brought home two runs on a throwing error by Tyler Yankosky (loss, 1-1). Cooper Johnson added to the lead in the frame with a two-RBI single to make it 8-3. Andrew Magno (Save, 3) picked up the four-out save after replacing Zach Hess on the mound. Magno pitched an inning and a third with two walks and three strikeouts to seal the victory. The Connecticut Tigers are back in action tomorrow for the final of the series with the Auburn Doubledays. Carson Lance will be on the mound tomorrow night for the Tigers.
