For Immediate Release June 26, 2019 Media Contact: Elijah Gonzalez 860-887-7962 x 109 Connecticut Falls in Tight Contest at Vermont Tigers pick up second highest hit total of season but fall short Norwich, CT - Gresuan Silverio went 2-for-3 with a home run and a run scored but the Connecticut Tigers (4-8) fell 6-4 to the Vermont Lake Monsters (6-6). The Tigers got on the board first in the top half of the third with a solo home run from Silverio to make it 1-0. Carson Lance got the start and pitched 4.2 scoreless innings with four walks and three strikeouts. The Tigers added to their lead in the top half of the sixth inning with two outs in the inning to make it 4-0. Connecticut got three runs on four hits with two outs in the inning. Jordan Verdon drove in one of the three runs with the other two being charged as unearned on an error by the Vermont first baseman. The Lake Monsters answered with six runs in the bottom half of the sixth. Nick Ward hit a three-run home run off of Matt Walker (Loss,0-1) to cut the lead to one. After a wild pitch to tie the game Jordan Diaz drove in two runs on an RBI-double to give Vermont the lead for the first time in the game. Austin Briggs (Win 1-0) and Jose Mora (Save, 2) combined for three scoreless innings to close out the contest. The Connecticut Tigers are back in action tomorrow against the Vermont Lake Monsters.
