Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” This very thought was one of the reasons behind the merging of Norwich Youth and Family and the Recreation Division of Norwich Human Services. Recreation, and Youth and Family Services have shared a space at 75 Mohegan Road for several years but were separate from one another, even though they both shared a common goal: to improve the overall health and well-being of Norwich residents. In this merger residents can expect to see better coordination of programming and an increase in events and services offered to the community. They have just completed the Winter 2023 Program Book as a new Division and are excited to offer new programs and opportunities for all. Erin Haggan, Division Manager stated “it has been a great experience merging our teams. We are excited to offer more extensive programming, adding activities such as, art, hooping, financial literacy, and more.” Residents can learn more about what is being offered, and register for classes on the City Website, https://www.norwichct.org/287/Recreation. Users can access over 120 languages. Additionally, they welcome inquiries by phone at 860-823-3791.
