Once hosting a secret party for the cast of The Sopranos to avoid Paparazzi, Tamarack Lodge is a hidden gem dating back to the 1700’s. The 28 acres of land have been home to various businesses including a blacksmith shop, a water-powered wagon wheel mill, a tree farm and then a popular vacation resort in the 1940’s. Industrial gears are still visible in the main buildings’ ceilings and what were once large chicken coops turned into cabins. The resort attracted vacationers from New York and Boston looking for a retreat from the city hussle and bussle.
The lodge hosts dinners and pub nights, weddings, retreats, concerts, festivals, camping, and summer camps. Multiple safari tents have been purchased for guests to enjoy glamping, and the existing cabins are being completely renovated.
In addition, Tamarack Lodge serves as an event venue and career training center for students enrolled at the Connecticut Coastal Academy and neighboring districts. The center also provides vocational opportunities and instruction in carpentry through the Home Builders Institute program, landscaping, hospitality, culinary arts including ServSafe certification, and other occupations and workplace-related skills.
Accommodations are available for large and small weddings and private events indoors and outdoors, as well as throughout all four seasons.
