FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 17, 2017 Media Contact: Rich Haskell rich@cttigers.com PAIR OF YANKEE PITCHERS SEND TIGERS TO FIFTH STRAIGHT LOSS, 4-0 DePaula carries no-hitter into 7th; Staten Island coasts to tenth consecutive win STATEN ISLAND, NY- Juan De Paula and Will Jones combined to throw a one-hitter, as the Staten Island Yankees cruised to their tenth straight victory, a 4-0 shutout of Connecticut at Richmond County Bank Ballpark Thursday night. De Paula (4-3) took a no-hitter into the seventh until Colby Bortles sent a triple to the wall in left field. Jones finished up the shutout with two innings of hitless relief. Kendall Coleman (3 RBI) drove in Timmy Robinson with a sacrifice fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the second off tough-luck loser Oswaldo Castillo (1-2), who pitched five innings of three-hit ball. Burris Warner came on in the sixth and gave up three runs as Staten Island put the game away. The Tigers (24-28) fell for the fifth straight time and will try to salvage the final contest in the four-game set before heading north for a three-game series in Burlington, Vermont with the first-place Lake Monsters Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
