With the loss, the Tigers fall a game under .500 heading into the two-day All-Star break. The Muckdogs scored first, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Connecticut right fielder Teddy Hoffman prevented any further damage by throwing Sam Castro out at the plate with a perfect strike for the final out of the frame. After Batavia added a run in the fourth, Connecticut got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Cam Warner drove in his first run in a Tigers uniform, singling in Colby Bortles, who had doubled, to cut the lead to 2-1. Batavia added a third run in the sixth to make it 3-1 until the bottom of the ninth. Reynaldo Rivera led off with his second home run of the year, a line drive over the right field fence to cut the lead to 3-2. But Muckdogs reliever Vincenzo Aiello shut the door for his second save. Ryan Castellanos (4-4) took the loss despite giving up only one earned run over six innings. Three errors and a couple of baserunning mistakes cost the Tigers, who head into the All-Star break at 24-25. The team travels to Staten Island for a three-game set with the first place Yankees beginning Wednesday, followed by three in Burlington, Vermont next weekend.
