FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 12, 2017 Media Contact: Rich Haskell rich@cttigers.com WILDNESS DOES IN TIGERS IN 5-4 LOSS TO BATAVIA Muckdogs capitalize on ten Connecticut walks NORWICH, CT- The Batavia Muckdogs took advantage of wildness by Tiger pitching to grab a 5-4, come-from-behind victory at Dodd Stadium Saturday night. Riding five shutout innings from starter Ken Figueroa, the Tigers used a Joey Morgan RBI single and Cole Peterson sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead to the top of the sixth. Connecticut answered a Batavia run in the top of the inning by adding one of their own in the home half of the sixth on a Reynaldo Rivera triple and Randel Alcantara sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. It all unraveled in the seventh, as Jose Vasquez and Colyn O'Connell (1-3) combined to walk five batters, and a Bubba Hollins two-run single with two outs put the Muckdogs ahead to stay. Connecticut got within one as Colby Bortles singled in Peterson to make it 5-4, but relievers Taylor Braley (1-1) and Brent Wheatley (fifth save) shut the Tigers down over the final two innings to preserve just their 18th win of the season. The Tigers will send righthander Ryan Castellanos (4-3) to the mound for the rubber match of the three-game series against Batavia Sunday afternoon at 4:05. The game can be heard on 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
