FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 28, 2017 Media Contact: Rich Haskell rich@cttigers.com TIGERS USE PEARCE 3-RUN BLAST TO MOVE WITHIN A HALF-GAME OF FIRST PLACE Four Connecticut pitchers hold off Lake Monsters, 3-2 NORWICH, CT- Jordan Pearce hit a three-run homer in the third inning, and Ryan Castellanos and three relievers made it hold up, as the Connecticut Tigers held on to defeat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-2, in front of 3,689 fans at Dodd Stadium Friday night. The third inning uprising began when Luke Burch reached on a fielders' choice and Garrett McCain singled. Pearce, Detroit's 21st round pick out of Nevada this year, then took an Oscar Tovar (1-2) fastball well over the right field fence for his second home run of the season. Castellanos (4-2) departed with a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Will Vest, Max Green, and Brandyn Sittinger (second save) followed with 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Brad Bass will take the mound Saturday night for the Tigers in the third and final game of the series with Vermont. Game time is 7:05.
