Peterson had opened the decisive inning with a single, and went all the way to third when the ball evaded left fielder Isaac Benard. One out later, Savage drove a base hit to right to bring in the go-ahead tally. The bottom of the eleventh was eventful, with John Hayes (1-0) getting Matt Eureste to ground out to first with the bases loaded to end it. For the Tigers, who led by two runs going to both the bottom of the ninth and tenth, Savage and Peterson combined for five hits, while Reynaldo Rivera went 1-for-5 with his team leading 17th and 18 runs batted in. Connecticut travels home for a day off Wednesday, followed by a key three-game set with first-place Vermont starting Thursday at 7:05 at Dodd Stadium.
