FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 17, 2017 Media Contact: Rich Haskell rich@cttigers.com CAPITAL REGION STORMS SUSPEND TIGERS/VALLEYCATS GAME IN SECOND INNING Game to be picked up at 5 PM Tuesday; regularly scheduled game to follow TROY, NY- Rain and some too-close-for-comfort lightning brought Monday night's game between Connecticut and Tri-City to an abrupt halt in the top of the second inning at Bruno Stadium. The game will be picked up with the Tigers on top 1-0, and a runner on first with two outs in the top of the second. Connecticut grabbed the lead by scoring in the first inning for the fourth straight game on singles by Luke Burch, Colby Bortles, and Junnell Ledezma. Matt Manning worked out of a jam in the bottom of the frame in his only inning of work. In the second, Garrett McCains' two-out single was followed by a jarring lightning strike that sent the fans scattering and brought the game to an immediate halt. The suspended game will be a nine-inning affair, followed by a seven-inning game a half hour after the first game's conclusion. All the action can be heard beginning at 5 PM on 1310 WICH, and online at cttigers.com.
