The Tigers (2-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings, and after an Ironbird run in the 5th made it 4-1, a two-out, two-run triple by Ariel Serrano extended the lead to 6-1. Aberdeen chipped away with a run in the 7th, then left the tying run at first in the 9th as John Hayes got Brendan Becker to fly out to end the game. Despite striking out 17 times, the Tigers got two hits each from Will Savage, Isrrael De La Cruz, and Hector Martinez and 4 innings of relief from Ken Figueroa (1-0) to remain alone in first place in the Stedler Division. Connecticut will host Game 2 of the three-game set with Aberdeen on Thursday night at Dodd Stadium.
