For Immediate Release May 19, 2017 Media Contact:Rich Haskell 860-887-7962 x 109 2017 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AT DODD STADIUM Top four teams to battle for conference title May 25-28 NORWICH, CT- For the fourth consecutive year, and sixth time since 2011, Dodd Stadium will provide the backdrop for the Northeast Conference (Division I Collegiate Baseball) Championship Tournament. The winner of the event, which will feature the top-four teams from the NEC regular season standings (determined by winning percentage), will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The double-elimination, four-team NEC tournament will take place Thursday, May 25th through Saturday, May 27th with an “if necessary” deciding game to take place Sunday, May 28th. Game times for the tournament will be Noon and 4:00 pm daily. Tickets will be on a “per day” basis and fans will gain general admission access to both games on that day. Ticket prices will be $10 for General Admission and $5 for seniors and children 12 years of age and under. NEC students with a valid ID will be admitted free. Tickets are now on sale by phone at (860) 887-7962 or at the Dodd Stadium box office Monday-Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Defending champion Bryant University has clinched a spot in the championship tournament along with Central Connecticut State University. Sacred Heart University, Wagner College, Fairleigh Dickson University, and LIU Brooklyn continue battling to claim the final three spots. Bryant University and Sacred Heart University have each won the Conference championship three times since 2010, with CCSU winning once. The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. Opening Night for the 2017 season for the Connecticut Tigers is set for June 19th at 7:05 pm! 2017 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets and team merchandise are now on sale!
