The Camp will soon be filled with camp activities that bring laughter, ear to ear smiles and hundreds of happy children each week. This year will be the 107th season of the camp’s summer program and the summer staff are beginning to arrive. “It’s an overwhelming joy to begin our 107th summer,” says Denise Hornbecker, Kids Camp CEO. The Camp is currently enrolling campers for their day, overnight, summer preschool and summer teen programs. While at camp, children ages 4 – 16 enjoy activities ranging from swimming and archery to zip line/ropes and arts & crafts. Additional activities include performing arts, photography and visual media arts, hiking, river exploration and more. Channel 3 Kids Camp runs 10 weekly sessions. Many of those sessions include the ability for children with special needs to come to the camp. The Camp partners with organizations such as The Epilepsy Foundation, American Academy of Dermatology, Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind. Once again there will be a Military Week in partnership with the National Military Foundation for children with parents have been or are currently deployed. One special week was created 9 years ago called Sibling Connections Camp. It is a free overnight camp designed to unite siblings that have been separated by the foster system. During this week (which is closed to the general public) clinicians from Wheeler Clinic are on hand to support the children. Channel 3 Kids Camp believes that ALL children deserve a Kids Camp experience. Our mission is to provide fun year-round opportunities to children of all abilities, families, and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity, acceptance, and environmental appreciation. The nonprofit organization provides opportunities through traditional summer overnight and day camp, weekend groups and respite weekends, a year-round Teen Leadership program and a year-round child care center. Channel 3 Kids Camp is located in Andover and Coventry Connecticut on 150 wooded acres alongside the Skungamaug River. To learn more about camp and how to enroll please visit www.channel3kidscamp.org or call 860-742-2267. One of the best thing about summer camp is making new friends.
