The Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS® (ECAR) Charitable and Education Fund held its Annual Holiday Community Benefit Raffle and Bazaar on December 7, 2016 at the Lake of Isles in Stonington. Over 40 prizes were donated by local businesses ranging from a $10 gift certificate to a portable generator and golf for 3 on Fisher’s Island. The prizes were awarded through a raffle, silent and live auction with Auctioneer Calvin Utter. The holiday lunch and festivities were lead by Masters of Ceremonies, Attorney Jonathan Peck of the Peck & Tuneski Law Firm in New London, and Dennis Palmer of Citizens’ Bank, back by popular demand, while Calvin Utter, William Raveis Real Estate, conducted the live auction. The event was attended by nearly 150 REALTOR® and Affiliate members of the Association to raise funds. A total of 26 recipients were chosen by the ECAR Community Relations Committee, who reviewed grant requests that were submitted prior to the event from 32 local organizations. Awards ranging from $500 to $1,000 were granted to the following local charitable organizations: The goal for the event was exceeded with over $19,000 raised, the largest amount to date for this community fundraiser. “We had enourmous support from the REALTOR® community, as well as from so many businesses who donated substantial prizes to make this happen”, said Shelita Peterson, Heritage Properties.
