The funding will be used specifically to provide camp scholarships to children from New London County. The Camp’s mission is to provide fun, year round opportunities for children of all abilities, families and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity, acceptance and environmental appreciation. Channel 3 Kids Camp believes that all children deserve a camp opportunity regardless of their economic, physical or developmental ability. “This grant means a great deal to us,” said Denise K. Hornbecker, Chief Executive Officer of Channel 3 Kids Camp. “Thanks to Dime Bank Foundation’s generosity, this will provide more than 10 kids the opportunity to come to overnight camp for a week. Without this funding, that may not be possible for these children,” Mrs. Hornbecker continued. “It shows that the Dime Bank Foundation sees the importance of out of school programs like summer camp on the positive development of children.” Channel 3 Kids Camp, located on 150 acres in Andover and Coventry, CT, serves nearly 3,000 children each year. Children come from throughout all of Connecticut and participate in activities that range from swimming, ropes courses, performing arts, archery and more. In addition to summer day and overnight camp, Channel 3 Kids Camp offers year-round programs including, vacation day camps, teen leadership programs and a year-round, on-site child care center. The Dime Bank Foundation supports and gives back to the communities they serve, providing funding for charitable, cultural, literary, scientific and educational non-profit organizations. Channel 3 Kids Camp, a 501(c)3 organization, is extremely grateful for this opportunity to welcome new children to camp! Visit www.channel3kidscamp.org to learn more about the organization.
