Check-in begins at 9:00 AM, with kick-off of the 5K starting at 10:00 AM. The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Sound Community Services has a mission statement “To inspire Hope by Empowering our Diverse community to find Healing and Growth.” More than 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with a mental illness. Over 1 in 5 youth (ages 13-18) have a seriously debilitating mental illness. It is our commitment to the community to raise awareness in hopes of breaking down barriers in asking for help. Studies have shown that regular exercise can significantly increase mental health stability and symptom improvement.
