Following three scoreless innings, 18-year-old Australian Jack O’Loughlin (Loss, 0-1) entered his fourth inning of work in the top of the ninth and allowed a leadoff single to Denis Karas. Two batters later, Matt Brooks flew a single to center field that Reece Hampton booted into left field, allowing Karas to score the decisive run and a 4-3 lead. For the second night in a row, 19-year-old right fielder Darwin Alvarado led the Tigers with a pair of runs batted in. He tallied a sac fly in the first and a game-tying RBI single to make it 3-3 in the fourth. First baseman Nick Ames followed his first career Connecticut home run on Wednesday with an RBI single to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Thursday. Right-handed pitcher Carlos Guzman took the no-decision in his fifth start with Connecticut and allowed a three-run homer by Karas in the fourth inning that gave the Muckdogs their first lead, 3-2. Catcher-turned-pitcher Arvicent Perez pushed his career-opening scoreless streak to three innings after pitching one shutout frame and Dylan Stock recorded one out in the ninth. Connecticut bats went scoreless through the final five innings as C.J. Carter (Win, 1-1) and Elkin Alcala (Save, 2) combined for three hitless frames to end the ballgame. The Tigers fell to 2-2 this season while wearing Norwich Navigators uniforms as part of their ongoing Throwback Thursday promotion at Dodd Stadium.
