Set up has already begun in Goodwin Park and will continue until opening day on November 23, 2017 through January 1, 2018. This event is made possible only with the help and support of hundreds of volunteers. Currently, volunteers are assisting with getting displays out of storage, testing displays, replacing bulbs and setting up displays along the 2½ mile path through Goodwin Park. Volunteers are also needed to assist with park clean up/land clearing, electrical work, and machine operation. In addition to volunteering with the setup of the show, opportunities are available to work at the entrance gates throughout the 5 week event. Approximately 6-10 people are needed each night to successfully operate the show. This is a great team building opportunity for local businesses as their role is to greet cars and share their holiday spirit. The illuminated drive-through display will open on Thanksgiving Day and will run nightly through New Year’s Day from 5 pm to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and 5pm to 10pm Fridays and Saturdays. Holiday Light Fantasia not only shares seasonal cheer, but helps welcome thousands of children from Connecticut to the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Ticket sales make it possible for all children to attend camp regardless of economic, physical or developmental ability. For more information about these volunteer opportunities, contact Special Events Manager, Jana Tierney at 860-742-CAMP(2267).
