RELIANCE HEALTH PURCHASES 2-6 CLIFF STREET FROM LORD PROPERTIES Norwich, October 3, 2017 – Reliance Health (formerly Reliance House), a non-profit community mental health center, has purchased 2-6 Cliff Street in Norwich from Lord Properties. With several day programs already in place at the building, including their Outpatient Clinic, Reliance Health is focused on bringing programs together, providing increased accessibility, and enhancing service offerings. Reliance Health has experienced rapid growth and expansion since its inception in 1976. The agency, which started as a single-staffed drop-in center for those transitioning to the community from Norwich Hospital, currently operates 18 day programs out of 8 buildings scattered throughout Norwich, in addition to 11 residential homes throughout Eastern Connecticut. Chief Operating Officer, Carrie Dyer, identified that “the purchase of 2-6 Cliff Street aligns with our name change and strategic plans of growth in holistic care. The 2-6 Cliff Street site, which has been well maintained by the Lord family, is an ideal location for Reliance Health’s current and future expansion plans, meeting both spatial and accessibility needs.” For over 40 years, Reliance Health has been committed to keeping offices downtown while serving Eastern Connecticut. The agency plans to maintain ownership and usage of their 40 Broadway location to ensure the building remains occupied, while shifting primary program offerings to Cliff Street. “We’re proud to be part of Norwich,” states Chief Executive Officer, David Burnett, “to bring our brand of community health to this city and surrounding towns.” Kathryn Lord, one of the previous owners of the property said, "My brother Jeff and I are very pleased to be able to sell the Cliff Street building to Reliance Health. This building has been in our family for over 40 years. It means a great deal to us to see it pass into the hands of such a fine local organization that will be able to use the building to its fullest extent in helping our neighbors and our community. We know that Reliance Health will be an excellent steward to the building in the years ahead."
