Lage's heroics made a winner out of Wandisson Charles (2-0) as the Lake Monsters evened the three-game set at one game apiece. Churlin smacked a one-out double off Tigers reliever Max Green (1-2). Aldridge, making his first appearance for Connecticut, had his first pitch lined into left field by Lage to end the nearly four-hour affair. The Tigers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with a run in the second and three more in the third. The third inning rally started with singles from Cole Peterson, Luke Burch and Garrett McCain, whose hit brought in Peterson to make it 2-0. Jordan Pearce followed with a fielders choice to score Burch. After another hit from Colby Bortles, Reynaldo Rivera hit into a fielders choice to bring in Pearce and give the Tigers a 4-0 lead. After that, the Connecticut offense went cold, producing just two hits over the final ten innings. Down by four, Vermont chipped away as Logan Farrar's third round-tripper of the season cut the lead to 4-1. Single runs in the fifth and sixth brought the Lake Monsters within a run, and after Connecticut scored in the top of the seventh, Vermont tied the game with a pair in the bottom of the frame. The game then became of battle of the bullpens until Lage ended it in the 13th. For the Tigers, Pearce and Burch led the offense with two hits apiece. Carson Lance will make his first start of the season for Connecticut on Monday. Game time is set for 7:05 at Centennial Field. You can hear the game on 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com
